Don Imus is toast. Last night CBS dropped him following the cancellation of his TV broadcast yesterday by NBC. The debate now is NOT if he should have been fired but why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were allowed to run point on getting the job done?

This morning the thought is could the impact of these two Reverends involvement cloud both the meaning and the results of the dismissal?

Noted columnist L.Brent Bozell does a beautiful job in both shinning the light on these two alleged men of god and their
Involvement in the case. He writes, “The raging media controversy over the stupid racial insult Imus threw at the Rutgers women’s basketball team – “nappy-headed hos” – has led the usual cast of professional victims, like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the NAACP, to deplore the racist underbelly of the broader American culture.” Click here to read his entire column.

As for the firing yesterday by MSNBC, Imus could be better off away from the struggling cable channel. The infamous Dick Gregory worked with an MSNBC flack to try to actually involve the President of the United States into the Imus incident.

In a side bar Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong has now apologized to the Duke players but when asked if he (Reverend Jesse Jackson) would also apologize his answer was a firm NO!

Again, the issue is no longer Imus. The issue now is will these two fanners of hate be given an open door to corporations to sit at the table in their decision making of who goes and who stays. More importantly will the left wing media continue to enable the two men to the extend their viewers and readers actually think they are the arbitrators for an entire race? Scary thoughts.

NBC has tossed Imus from their struggling cable station. The head of NBC News told the infamous Dick Gregory the reason was internal e mails from staff demanding the network adhere to their decency policy.

At first blush NBC tried to milk the story. Arbitron overnights showed MSNBC morning viewership exploded the day after the remark. Only when major sponsors ran from the show did the company “spin” their decision in the moral direction. If you would like to see the wiggling answer of why Don Imus was not fired the day he touched off the remark click here.

CBS/AP) STROUDSBURG, PA A radio station fired its longtime morning DJ Wednesday after he encouraged listeners to repeat talk-show host Don Imus' racially charged comments in an on-air contest.

A headline we will NEVER SEE:

“Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will share a private jet to fly to Duke University to render their personal apologizes for the wild rush to judgment in the bogus rape case against Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and David Evans. Both men of God will not only ask the team members to forgive them from “robbing them” of their collegiate athletic career but they will also render spiritual guidance to the families crushed by the fabricated incident.”

The other campus involved in the horrid miscarriage of justice and home of accuser Crystal Gail Mangum, N.C. Central University is still confused over the declared innocence of the three students.

"I don't think [Nifong] meant wrong, that it was a rogue attack. I think he went more with his passion than maybe his professionalism. He might have been wrong in some instances, but I don't think he was totally wrong." — A.J. Donaldson, an N.C. Central University senior

A clue to why these young men were “robbed” of their lives could be in the accuser’s background. The Smoking Gun takes a look at just who Crystal Gail Mangum is and offers some facts as to why she was used by the prosecutor to both sway minority voters into reelecting him and to develop the sham case against the three students.

The IMUS posts are heating up! On day whatever of DONFALLSONHISSWORD lots of very sleazy dynamics are starting to emerge, and more than a few are directly caused by Don Imus. As the posts reflect, the remark was bad and the people who are surrounding themselves in the issue are worse. From the left wing driven NBC news organization all the way over to FOX this thing has become the new “Anna Nicole” story and all of the reports are more agenda driven than any thing ever spewed by either Dan Rather OR Katie Couric. Don, shut up and let this thing deflate!

As for the rest of us, boy is it fun to talk about! Again great posts, keep them coming and never forget if you see it on TV under the umbrella of news, opinions have kicked facts under the bus especially in this case.

THE STAFF IS BACK!
TODAYS TOPICS FOR YOU TO COMMENT ON INCLUDE:

BAD PEOPLE SAYING BAD THINGS ON THE RADIO

DON IMUS

THE GLOBAL WARMING MYTH

A NEW BAND IS ON FIRE!

First, unlike most hacks who write about radio I happen to know folks who actually have worked in the pit and they all will tell you at one time or another they have said SOMETHING they wish they hadn’t on the air. Here is what they tell me they did when they said that BAD thing.

1. Swear on their mother’s eyes they didn’t say it (before someone finds the tape)
2. Blame it on the engineer (after the tape is found)
3. Take a leave of absence for one week(try to hide the tape)
4. Take a perminate leave of absence. (after the tape is introduced in court)

Good old 60 something year old Don Imus has been caught in the web of advanced technology and is having a hell of a time getting out. Bless his crusty heart in 2007 there isn’t even a tape to hide! Pop your Pie Hole Don and before you can say, “George Bush is a fool” your words are splattered from U Tube to multiple hard drives in all those scary places with only letters for names. You know like NAACP, FCC, RPC, CORE, SNIC, and even the SEC!

The big question now for Don is how does he put things right with the left, the middle, the right, and his audience? His show is built on saying things that hang right on the edge with most folks and cause the rest of us to say “TELL ME HE DIDN’T JUST SAY THAT ON THE RADIO!” This morning that famed Imus edge was butter knife smooth, and duller than a Clinton state of the union speech. I swear I thought the old man was going to cry a few times and his skinny producer/wild side kick was quiet as a church mouse in time out.

The I Man didn’t do a show he conducted a funeral and it was painful to watch.

When he announced he was going on the Al Sharpton radio show later today to make nice they should have run a big crawl under him saying THE SHARK WAS JUMPED AND THE OLD MAN HAS OFFICIALLY LEFT THE BUILDING. A word of advice to Mr. Don, no matter how bad your transgressions never cuddle up to those who feed on miss steps. You will not find forgiveness. Also remember if you are far enough to the LEFT you can say any dang thing and walk away without a scratch. Want proof? Check out Jesse Jackson and the lovely way he described a major city as having a large Jewish population! Then magnify the JESSE persona a few hundred times and you have the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Does the I Man have any options? Sure, shut up and go back to doing your show. Apologizing to the likes of Al and Jesse will only throw high test on the flames. Remember Jimmy The Greek? I Man you don’t want to be Jimmy The Greek, duck and cover for a few weeks at your ranch till CNN decides if you are still left wing enough to be forgiven and then pop back up!

GLOBAL WARMING took it in the shorts this Easter in Rockford. It was so cold we had to take flowers out to Daddy’s grave Easter morning rather than on the Friday before and this year the only ones that would hang in for the entire day were pansies! I love the new report from MIT that says yep it is getting warmer and yep it has in the past and will in the future. I am sure it won’t make the main stream media but it sure is fun to e mail to all my liberal buds who think AGORE running will be bigger than what was celebrated at sunrise Sunday morning!

THE NEW BAND!
Children of the 50s and 60s I am here to tell you the new band “The Mountain Folk Reunion” that played Saturday evening at Music Row is a must see. From this humble tired old writer's point of view I can honestly say they are better looking than the Rolling Stones, sing better than The Association and Bread combined and unlike the Dixie Chickens looked to be playing their own instruments! They have an open invitation to post any and all of their future performances right here along with their softened and air brushed photographs!

A giant welcome back to the staff and as always your comments and posts will never be edited. Feel free to jump in!

Global Warming is real, Imus is a biggot and you need to go away.

Don Imus really did bad on the Rev. Al show this afternoon, there is a clip of it posted on Drudge. Al had him on the ropes and beat him bad!

He will be fired now.

Global warming is real. On Mars!! On Venus!!! As well as here on Earth.

The single biggest source of global warming is THE SUN!!!

Argue that point, and you prove yourself a fool.

As for Imus, he reinforced why you don't say things you really don't mean on the radio. Larry King once told me, as I was showing him to the Men's Room at Citadel Knoxville, that his biggest piece of advice is to never say something that you don't really believe on the radio in hopes of getting a response. You will later backtrack, or try to, and your audience will see you for the phony that you are. He is right and Don Imus is proof.

I have skipped in and out of the cable news nets today and god help me but if I didn't feel bad for Mr. Don.

He was sucking up to Rev. AL so hard I thought his head would cave in and then later CNN had a bank of black "experts" ripping him up and down.

The real world kicked in tonight on HBO when I was watching last nights Sopranos. NEXT to it was
THE BAD BOYS OF COMEDY and it was nothing but back men screaming about HOs, MuderFukers, and worse.

Giant question is, when will all of those guys be on CNN and FOX trying to save their jobs on HBO? Answer is never...As long as there is a thick line where one side can't say..."those things" while those on the other sid can, we will have a major problem!

Don went to the WRONG guy today to say he was sorry, Al and Jesse are tired old opertunists who live to fan the fires and make a buck, run don't walk from those folks.

IF Don comes back he needs to realize how some can do and some can't. THEN if he really wants to rock everyone's world he should both talk about it and make FUN of it!

What Imus said was wrong. He has acknowledged that, and has offered to apologize to the Rutgers womens basketball team. Those women are the ones who deserve his apology.

Beyond that, he doesn't owe Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton anything.

The thing is, what he said didn't originate with him. Black women are denigrated daily by black rappers. Al, Jesse, where's the outrage at that? Does that make what Imus said okay? Of course not. But why not judge the man for his total character, what he does with his ranch, how many millions of dollars he has raised for several charities?

The bible says those of us without sin can cast the first stone. I'm not throwing any rocks yet.

Imus crossed the line and he is paying for it, but for Al Sharpton to whine about something stupid and offensive that somebody else said is just plain hypocritical. Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have the market cornered on saying stupid and offensive things.

The Dixie Chicks do play their own instruments.

imus made a mistake and apologized for it. BUT what if imus said something about the lady vols? damn, how would everybody feel THEN? anyway, i'm kindly pissed that the rutgers team is getting more national attention over this crap than our lady vols actually winning the title.

If I turn on one more station and see them pounding away on the IMUS story I am going to pull an Elvis on my TV!

Anonymous said...

Don Imus and the fool who does this blog are both has beens and right wing nuts! They both should go away.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the post on the lady vols. THEY won but the country and the media are obsessed with an old drunk DJ talking about how the team they played was covered in tats and looked like trash.

If anyone watched those girls in their press conference they saw black women who could not talk without saying YOU KNOW and a odd ball back coach who just rambled all over the place and never got much said.

Congradulations to the Lady Vols.

Imus is a right wing nut job?? Really? How many times was Harold Ford, Junior, on his show compared to Bob Corker? Imus is a populist, not a lib, not a right-winger, a populist. Maybe even an opportunist.

Had he not said that the Rutgers team was full of "nappy headed ho's" but had rather made a comment about them being an inarticulate bunch of young women, he would still be vilified...just to a much, much, much lesser degree. And even that might have been unfair. The first time I interviewed Kara Lawson, she talked with several ums and uhs to the point of being distracting. She was nervous (why she would be talking to me, I have no idea). Hell, Kara is now all over ESPN during the women's tournament.

Imus is an idiot, his own term, sadly he has had to prove himself right. Much like the Democrats in Washington when it comes to "Iraq is Arabic for Vietnam!" Better to be right, than cause harm to prove yourself right.

Can you think of any other reason to watch MSNBC besides IMUS?

Anonymous said...

I know you have received hundreds of thousands of emails regarding this but I hoping you wiol read this onr.

I say Enough is enough.....Yes, Mr. Imus was wrong to say what he said but how in the world can you justify firing him for making this error? Since when can 1 or 2 people decide for NBC who they will they fire and not fire? Every one is human and will make human mistakes. He gave an apology and the apology should be accepted. Period. Al Sharpton and Jessee Jackson are now telling NBC what to do? I thought they were ministers of Jesus Christ, where is their forgiveness? What would Jesus do? He would say "Go and don't do it again" that's what He would say. But you at NBC have bowed to the "racist" claim, everything is racist to someone. Everyone is offended by something. I am offended by TV every single hour that it is on......NBC airs shows with nudity, violence, foul language, rappers showing their butts and using foul language and NBC also airs Jay Leno with his Fat people jokes. How about that? Perhaps the Fat people should get together and yell "Discrimination", don't offend us because we're fat! Don't offend us with your foul programs,,,,,here's what you say to that...if you don't like it turn it off. Same with Imus in the morning...if you don't like it turn it off.

I, would just say when will it be Enough for Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Why is everyone so offended. Don't be fooled these men are sitting around waiting for a platform to hop on for the notoriety it gives them and I for one am sick to death of one or two people deciding what is right or wrong for all of us! One woman got the Bible and prayer taken out of our schools and you can see where that has gotten us. Our country has gone straight downhill since then. Why can't one person come to you and try to make things right? Make them fair and just for all? Aren't we entitiled to an opinion? Only if it doesn't cross the race road? Come one, surely we can not be offended by every little thing.

Don Imus apologized so you fire him? think about that the next time your own head is on the block....

TO copy another network newscaster.....Give me a break.

Those rich white boys at DUKE just got off cause they had money. That girl was raped and everyone knows it, get off Jesse and Al's back you are worse that Don Imus!

Anonymous said...

THE VIEW is saying the DUKE boys were guilty of hiring strippers and because they are very rich the rape case was dropped.

Rosie wants to stop talking about DUKE and IMUS and get back to bashing the President. She called the new time deployment announced yesterday a reverse DRAFT!

Rosie should join Al Frankin and run for office, she is a great and mighty voice and needs to be heard!

Anonymous said...

IMUS is finally fighting back! Transcrip of this mornings show is on Drudge.com and boy is he pissed.

Jesse was just asked on TV if he would say he was sorry for all the things he said about the three Duke players and he said NO, there WAS something going on in that house and he (Jesse) was not SURE it wasn't rape.

Jesse and Al are crazy!

Anonymous said...

"great and mighty voice and needs to be heard!" - - - I really hope that was sarcasm. I really, really, really, and don't misunderstand me, really hope that was sarcasm.

POLLS by network TV and the lift wing Wall St. Journal are showing the majority of people are against the firing of Imus and think he should have been givng a second chance.

IF the networks would have told the TRUTH and admitted the reason was the withdrawal of advertisers they might have saved face. As it is NBC and even CBS have taken the low road and we can only hope it will burn their ass in the near future.
