IT IS FRIDAY

Just like Talk Radio...where the CALLERS are the stars..
here on the MEDIA REPORT the folks who COMMENT are our
favorites!

Here are YOUR comments from this week, the poll is still open so vote and
if you want to expound add more in the comment section. NEVER EDITED ALWAYS
POSTED is the sign over the door!

CHECK THEM OUT

WOKI goes from EARL (whatever that was) TO OLDIES:

1.
The oldies station is boring. Same old songs over and over. XM plays lots of varieties of songs on individual channels for each decade from the 40s thru the 90s--and about 50-60 other channels, too. I've already dumped WOKI and gone back to XM--which is the future.

Anyone who subscribes to certain tiers of DirecTV gets XM for free as their music channels. Just as Dish gives customers Sirius channels. Narrow thinking and penny pinching are killing local radio.

2.
"Because of your Media Blog,
I started listening to WOKI over the weekend
and was excited because they played 60s, Motown, and Soul.
Now, I'm bored. They're now repeating and to hear a really good old song
is few and far between.
They're playing way too much "Archie's" and Neil Diamond.
I'm back listening to the Fulton High School oldies and 1040 a.m.

3.
satellite radio is of the devil!

Local Radio Rules!

Local radio is where I get my sports..but for music I go to XM and for comedy and fun people to lisent 2 I also go to XM.

Locl radio doesn't even read the news anymore.

I can't tell you WHO is on the air
at any station except WIVK..can YOU?

5.

Local radio would do news if it hadn't been for deregulation.

And yes, I can tell you who's on the air at several stations.

6.

My son loves old music and he found WOKI yesterday on the way home from school. I don't care what the other person said..we like it.

They play some funny old songs and
they don't have any commercials.

This week you guys were all into
the Don Imus vindication and then
the turn around litigation against him
by ONE of the Rutgers players.

1.
Great news about Imus! If WABC takes him back that will be a red hot poker right up the back side of both Al and Jessie.

It is wonderful when lawyers earn their money and the truth wins.

Go Don!

2.

Don Imus should give her ALL the money! He also should never EVER go back on the radio. This young woman's life is ruined by this crazy old WHITE man!

3.
Twenty million and a letter saying both sides
will shut up is not vendication for
this old white raciest. I hope
if he does get a job people like Harold
Ford will continue to shun him!

4.
I thought Imus made the remark about
the entire team? If so, how can only
one player say she was singled out?
Is her lawyer black?

5.
Imus called her a HO! For the rest of her life she will have to either live with it or try to get on at the Bunny Ranch!

Just another example of no money trying to get some from big money.

She and her case will be laughed out of court and Imus will be back on the air with over twenty million in his saddle bag.

PS
Go to HELL
Al and Jessie

BLOG WARS flat got everyone's
attention. When a local
REPUBLICAN
was banned from
knoxviews.com (a very FAR left blog)
more than a few of you had a thought
on the subject!

1.

Southern, white, conservative, evangelical Christian,
heterosexual, conservative husband and father said...

As for the blog story with Brian Hornback,
i've had dealings with Sandra Clark and Betty Bean, myself.
They are both more than one brick shy of a load.

2.

Dear S,W,C,E,C,H,C,H,Father..

I can tell you stories about both of those women but I won't.

They are group members in the
cirlce of the pissed off
and that is about all they will ever
be. Soon Scripts will fold
all of these little papers they bought
and later move their operation more on line.
If they can get fools to advertise
then they will have saved many
dollars while eliminating the competition.
Betty and Sandra will be just
old names a few left wingers will talk about
in the nursing home.

3.
I just counted three people posting
26 times on knoxviews about the banning!
They did mention two people
by name but NONE of those posting gave THEIR name.
If you are a republican you can't join the blog
that was obvious
from reading their thoughts.
A few of them were funny and sounded
like they might be like well normal?
I will see if I can sign up and post!
West Knoxville White Woman

4.

I post on knoxviews.com
and I monitor this blog.
We know who you are and we
are watching you. Remember
that when you let anyone post,
their thoughts and posts can
get you in trouble. We fired you
from your job and we banned you from
our blog. With unemployment at
a record high thanks to your president
you might want to tone down
your comment section about knoxviews.com.
Jobs are not as easy to come by
as they were in the days when
radio would hire stupid
hicks from Maryville like YOU!
Go AWAY

5.

Thank you for showing
me knoxviews.com! I have
already talked it over with
a few of my friends and we are
all going to sign up and post.
WE are FOX LOVING REPUBLICANS!
We also will keep posting until
they throw us off. It is a very
funny site and a little bit
scary also!

6.

I looked at knoxviews and there
is nothing on it that should attract readers.
What is the big deal about being banned
from a site like that? The posts I read were
all from one or two people and
they have no use for Republicans so again,
why even read it?

These didn't really fit any
topic.

1.
You poll is as stupid as you are.
Local radio is better now than ever,
more talent on the air and more reasons to listen.

Local TV is also doing good,
great looking people on 8
and fine reporting on 10 and 6.

I don't pay for the paper
but I sure do read it on my computer
so it is also doing great.

You are not doing so hot.

2.

Local radio is where I get my sports..
but for music I go to XM and
for comedy and fun people to hear
I also go to XM.

Local radio doesn't even read the news anymore.
I can't tell you WHO is on the air

The Daily Times in Maryville and WIVK have kicked
everybody's ass on the story of Pat Summitt's
official divorce filing.

Wasn't on any TV news late Wednesday night,
and not on knoxnews.com Wednesday night either.
But it was on
the Daily Times website
by early evening,
and I heard it on
WIVK just after 9pm Wednesday.
I know this isn't the hardest of news,
but come on, for God's sakes,
are the TV stations sleeping!! It's Pat F*#king Summitt!!

5.

The Daily Time was wrong
to make such a fuss over a divorce.

Someone should write them a letter!

6.

The oldies station is boring.
Same old songs over and over.
XM plays lots of varieties of songs
on individual channels
for each decade from the 40s thru
the 90s--and about 50-60 other channels, too.

Just as Dish gives customers Sirius channels.
Narrow thinking and penny pinching
are killing local radio.

Regarding local radio ratings, I've always believed it all depends on who gets the ratings books. That's why some stations, especially those below the top three or four, can have such huge changes from book to book.

I just saw a promo for Channel 10 noting
that "Ellen" will air at 2pm weekdays
starting in September.
Although she can sometimes be entertaining,
I don't think east Tennessee is ready
to embrace gay hosts. Which is why Rosie
will bomb after she gets her new show.
Whenever that is.
Maybe Ellen will do better going up against the soaps,
but will the viewers (are there any?)
of "Passions" on Channel 10 will be ticked.

HEY, CHANNEL 10, PLEASE STRAIGHTEN
OUT YOUR SCREWED UP STEREO AUDIO! IT SUCKS.

Honestly, when I heard that a Rutgers player was suing Imus,
I imagined what she looked like.
I was right, too.
Anyone who thinks these girls are ruined for life
is touched in the head,
as they say.
Without looking, can you name any of them?

Regardless of other posts,
local radio and tv do suck.
There is some talent on the air, but it's few and far between.
But mainly the formats suck.

And by the way,
have Al and Jessie ever worked
at a real job? Not the ones blackmailing businesses.

7.

WATE had Jim Wogan in their first news segment
at 11L00 with the news of
Pat Summitt's divorce filing.
I switched over after their weather
to watch Letterman and the guy on
WVLT had it in his sports segment.
Before the blogger shows his behind,
he really should learn where
the on button is on his TV set.
I subscribe to WIVK ealerts and
thought their promotion of more about
Pat's divorce would be on
Andy and Allison the next
morning was a little tacky.

8.
Well goll-damned at the feistiness!
Knox TV/Radio/paper could be a little better,
but so could your national network offerings.
Local outlets could be a heck of a lot worse!!
Have you seen surrounding markets and their crap
(not counting in Nashville and Atlanta).
Overall, I think our local guys and gals
are doing a dang good job! On the Magnavox,
10 is still strong, although not as hard
as the others on breaking news. 6 has slipped
just a little since its days in the 1990s and before.
8 is the best it has ever been, hands down.
Knox radio is still chugging along too,
although the options may seem
limited to some bitch-and-moaners whom
we will never be able to please.
The only big loss in radio is the
local feel of many of our AM stations.

I will not buy Sirius/XM
until they start providing
LOCAL content, traffic, news
, and INTERACTION with LOCAL
listeners. At least I can still get
local programming on my satellite television.

That's all I've got to say about that.
Remember, this is still jus
t KNOXVILLE, not NEW YORK. Chill people, chill.

ISN'T THIS FUN! Again, the poll is still open
so VOTE and if something in the media world happens we
will post it this weekend.

Teachers have it so easy..working a few months a year..off all the time for holidays and then that long summer break. They should get nothing for sick
days!

WIVK is a great radio station...they FIRED YOU!

Teachers work harder than just about anyone. Can you read? Thank a teacher.

Try being a teacher, or tag along with one if you can get off your job at McDonalds long enough. You'll see how hard they work, and why they are underpaid.

Education leaves marks on
everyone. Poor students are
caused by poor teachers. To get the best infront of the class try paying enough money to excite
the students into going into
the field!

Even the best teachers can't undo what bad parents have done. Teachers have to play nursemaid to a host of problems caused by inattentive, uncaring, and non-involved parents.

I agree that there should be better pay for teachers, but most teachers I know do it because they love it. If you don't love it, you'll burn out and leave.

So, explain to me EXACTLY how Imus ruined that girl's life? Nobody would even know her name if she hadn't filed that lawsuit.

As for the blog story with Brian Hornback, i've had dealings with Sandra Clark and Betty Bean, myself. They are both more than one brick shy of a load.
