MY NEW CAR!

I bought a new 2007 Cadillac and returned to the dealer the next day complaining that
I couldn't figure out how the radio worked. The salesman explained that the radio was
Voice activated.
"Watch this!" He said, "Nelson"! The Radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?"
"Willie!", he continued and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers.
Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and in an instant "Georgia O n My Mind" replaced Willie
Nelson.

I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven," I'd
Get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles," I'd get one of their awesome songs.

Yesterday, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new car, but I swerved in
Time to avoid them. I yelled, "Assholes!"

Immediately the French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Barbara
Streisand, backed up by Michael Moore and the Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry on guitar,
Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tamborine, Bill Clinton on
Sax and Ted Kennedy on scotch.

Damn, I LOVE this car!

THE DEATH OF RADIO!
OK, there is life in the body but how healthy is it?
Shelly Palmer| has really put together a great
column called "When Will Radio Die?" and if you
are an old radio dude or dudette you really should
read it.
If your car listening has moved from
the AM dial to the FM dial to XM and now to
a docked MP3 (I hate IPODS!) you also might
want to check out Palmer's thoughts. Radio
ain't what it was when Dr. AL had us by the
ears or we were being BOOGIE CHECKED on
I 100. Bless it's heart it is sad to see
it go...or is it really going? Again check it out
and post, it would be great to see your thoughts on
the subject!

FIRST SHE AMBUSHES ANN AND NOW SHE IS AFTER MS HILLARY!
YOU HAVE TO WONDER WHEN SHE WILL LET HER OLD MAN GET INTO THE
FIGHT!

HEY AL..WHAT YA DISHING UP TO EAT AT YOUR KID'S WEDDING?"

PISSED OFF PAGANS!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
A 180 foot image of Homer Simpson has been painted into the hillside, next to the famous fertility symbol - the Cerne Abbas giant - in Dorset. Pagans are not happy with the new addition to the hillside, and plan some 'rain magic' to get it washed away.

A GIANT ATTABOY
GOES TO WVLT FOR BECOMING THE OFFICIAL
TELEVISIION FLAGSHIP STATION OF THE
UT VOLS!

A few years back WIVK (the radio flagship
station of the VOLS) dropped their
good buddy partnership with WBIR and
moved over to WVLT. NOW that Channel 8 has
become the TV Flagship station they will
be getting all the UT sports shows that
were on WBIR last year!

For years Channel 8 has been airing
the majority of the UT football and basketball
games and now with the move into
"Flagship" status fans won't have to
click over to Channel 10 to get the
rest of the VOL programming.

This week the big local question is
IF ABC news is so good
why can't WATE get some
viewers for THEIR news
off of those getting
ready to catch Charlie
at 6:30?

Do you still slog out in the rain to get the newspaper?
Do you still yell at the editorial pages when
YOUR opinion is not theirs?
Do you still feel bad when you get that
note from your carrier about their
CHRISTMAS GIFT, knowing full well
you are just going to toss it?
Well GUESS WHAT..your KIDS are
not going to have ANY OF THE ABOVE
PROBLEMS, CAUSE THEY DON' READ
THE THING!

WHAT no digs at the BLACK woman who bought two lobsters at the Regas lunch? Did you forget she is a democrat? Guess you just missed it while you were war mongering.

Killing women in children from 7000 miles away is NOT an honorable thing, unless you are a REPUBLICAN!

I work for WATE and if you would look at the real numbers you would see where we BEAT WBIR at 5 and also at 6 and 11.

Are you still on the 8 payroll?

He isn't on the payroll, WVLT only hires young hot blond WOMEN!

WATE should take a page out of their book and put someone on the desk that is easy to look at.

WATE beating BIR @6 and 11?

Please.

You're coming in 3rd to VLT @11 three out of five nights., most weeks.

VLT has caught you @6 a couple of nights recently, and the overall trend is up. (still a ways to go, though)

You have momentum @5 because of format, and because of Oprah.

Period.

Most nights, your story SELECTION
bests the other two by miles.

Your story EXECUTION, is pathetic.

Re: When will radio die?

I think it'll be a long time, if ever. Sure, technology is changing, and corporate owners have pretty much cookie-cuttered formats. But what the writer of this column didn't address is the impact that local radio has on the community.

Ask anyone who enjoys listening to the Vols play football on the radio. Ask anyone who contributes to a radio-thon for some local charity. Ask anyone who gets comfort from hearing a friendly voice late at night or early in the morning. That's something your Clear channel traffic network or your GPS won't give you.

I love radio, and I'm not naive enough to think that its future is guaranteed. But in my humble opinion, a local station who remains closely tied to the community in all aspects can continue to do well.

Local radio and we are talking SPORTS and Trading Posts and preachers and beg a thons and election coverage and
even the beloved obituaries is
just not around like it was.

NO local station in Maryville
No local station in..(add your home
town)
FEW local stations in Knoxville

There is a tech and "person" shift away from over the air broadcasting and unless something exciting
comes along the decade could be
like the one when everyone left AM for FM..only this time it could be everyone just leaves!

Channel 8 is by far the worst television station in Knoxville! When I watch their newscast I feel like I am watching my high school television station. They do a poor job of reporting the facts and their writing drives me up the wall. I am also extremely tired of the countless stupid teases to their website. I try to watch all the stations here in the Knoxville area, and they are by far the worst in the bunch.

10 and 6 do the best job of getting the story straight here in East Tennessee.

Just an opinon, anyone agree?

Anonymous said...

I don't agree. WVLT has the second best sports...WATE has the first and now that they have all the UT sports programming they
just moved past WBIR.

Channel 8 has the best morning news team in Knoxville and the worst WEEKEND anchor. This guy is a cross between a used car saleman and Ted Knight. Bloyd or Loyd or whatever his name is needs to
give it up and go back to TV preaching.

Just read the new media up
date and YOU are back to your old
RIGH WING CRAZY ATTITUDE that got you BANNED from Knoxville's real blog.

WE do not read this joke to find out what YOU think, we only come over to see who is new on local TV or for some media history (that you obviously don't take the time to look up or just make up) your "thoughts" are NOTHING TO US!

This RIGHT WING ATTITUDE is what got you fired from the paper, when are you going to learn WE the MEDIA are not Republican loving rich white people like YOU!

GO AWAY

PS
Your new dogs are both ugly.

Good observation... I think the morning show, however is a close tie with 6. I just wish 6 would stop talking about "Developing news" over in Iraq! Other than that both do a good job in the morning. 10 is a little off. We definitely see eye to eye on 8's weekend guy though, eesh!

Those are cute dogs, it is a shame
they belong to someone filled with hate speak and who can't understand how this administration has runined our international image.

I for one am glad I called the paper and complained about you. It is so much nicer to read without YOU!

AND yes WATE is beaing WVLT everyone knows it but YOU!

Anonymous said...

Now they insult your dogs. Amazing.

I did not know about Knoxville's real blog until now. You can learn so much in the commnets. The comment section is as entertaining as the blog.

You should really have a disclaimer. "This blog may cause liberals to have mental issues".

Keep up the fine work.
