Channel 6's trustworthiness sucks compared to 10-12 years ago. And Lori Tucker has always been a bitch. From what I hear, mean to her coworkers that are "beneath" her. You go to Channel 10 or Channel 8 and you won't find any of that shit.

Channel 6 should bring back Sam Brown and Margie; hell at least it'd be better than what they have now.

Channel 10 should continue to use Bill Williams as frequently as possible.

Should Abby Ham haver her number retired?

No, but a spread in Playboy would be nice.

With all the eating establishments Ken Schwall visits, his ass should be as wide as the interstate. But I still like to watch his reports. Schwall and The Heartland Series are about the only two redeeming things on channel ten.

If Abby is unavailable, how about a Stacey McClung spread ?

Anyone notice all the singing spots on tv lately, like the furniture ad with the fat hippie? The Shoneys ad with Phil Williams is so good it should be shown nationally. Gooder job, big boy!

How about Abby Ham in a bikini on a motorcycle?

I worked with her for a few years and you are SO right! She is shallow and will say anything about anyone that crosses her. 6 has a few nice looking women (very few) but I guess Tucker has the big contract so they can't put one in her chair? I use to wonder how Gene could stand to be around her then I found out he couldn't and felt much better!

Also someone needs to tell her to get her hair cut! She is not a 48 year old kid anymore!

A) When is Fox 43 getting their own news at 10PM?

B) I laughed my ass off and changed the channel after watching an ABC program last Thursday night, when at 10:59 PM WATE did a promo with a guy doing a live shot from Claiborne County on the scene of a drug bust. He teased that the drug bust was about to happen, and WATE was the only crew LIVE on the scene. WTF, who cares? I flipped it over to 10.

C) Put Michelle Silva back on mornings permanently at Channel 10 since Abby "Hams" is gone.

D)If Channel 8 wants to compete with the big boys in the morning, they will start their local news at 5AM. I turn off the TV at 6AM anyway and turn on the radio.

E) Put Dan Farkas back on the street weekday as reporter. Not as an insult, but he had MORE TALENT with packaging reports for news. And why can't WBIR attract/hire sports people?

WBIR News sucks. Rusty Pabst from the News-Sentinel? Howdy, folks, welcome to Yokumville! I'm Rusty Pabst with da hedlines. Come meet my brudders, Shiney Bud and Chillur Miller. I talk just as dumb as I look. For real news without puppy dogs and daisies, watch WATE News. Local news should be facts, not kittycat fluff. The real pros are at 6, where they know how to run a control board. 10 is ripe for a killing.

Woof, woof!

WATE wouldn't know a fact if it walked out of Greystone's basement and onto the set.

Hype? Meaningless lives and walk-and-talks? Bo Williams wasting his time and ours with pothole expose's?

A reporting staff touted as experienced enough to "focus on Knox County" , when that experience consists of desk assistant (intern)
duty in major markets coupled with MONTHS of street work in Mayberry BFE?

Yep.
That's WATE, all right.

The NEWS station.

Farkas is a pussy on the air. He acts like an ESPN wannabe, but doesn't have the stones to pull it off. He sounds like he's reading "Cinderella" to kindergarteners.

Channel 10 is too cheap to hire good sports people. Pay for the talent or put out the same crap as before. Might want to look at channels 6 or 8, who actually keep their sports people for a long time. 10 is going down!

I'd like to see one of the local stations hire Dolly Parton to come in and do the weather, but if they did, my tv would tip over and get all busted up. Just the thought of it makes me want to twist those knobs.

I watched 10's report last night on the deputy who was shot...when did journalism 101 include the dictum that thou shalt refer to the alleged perp by his last name, and the victim by his first name? The reporter referred to "Carson" (the alleged triggerman) and "John John" (the victim).

John John????

Random media thoughts:

[1] I already miss Abby Ham.

[2] Why can't the people running master control for Channel 10 get the 11pm news right? And what is this continuing problem with the latenight Tennessee Lottery spot? (It ends and then the image stays unchanged on the screen for 30 or 40 seconds.)

[3] Dan Farkas has returned to his sing-song little girl voice.

[4] Channel 8 should lose the country bumpkins reporters and hire someone who can talk sensibly. (This refers to reporters, not anchors.)

[5] Channel 6 needs to buy a bucket of personality and then give everyone a saucerfull before going on the air.

[6] Knoxville radio remains lame. And why does a station change its format to oldies and then signs on with a network? No local involvement = death to the latest format flavor.

[7] Mexican radio in Knoxville is a waste of time and space. Si.

[8] The Froggy station wins by default because everyone else is so bad. Bad as in no good.

[9] Has WIMZ begun the long slide downward? Perenially number three in the market, they now have fallen to fourth.

[10] The News-Sentinel is great because they provide all the news and commentary that we need. Yeah, and my dog's farts smell like roses, too.

Last week it was jump on Star or whatever they are calling that station now? So after being on IVK for the last few years I went over and gave it a try.

The morning show spent over 15 minutes talking about a little boy who peed in church. No really at least 15 and there was no punch line? One of them said they wore depends on the air to see if they would leak but outside of that it just went on and no.

I gave up, went back to IVK and then for some reason tried them again. This time they were talking about a dog that peed in the house.

Freddy was doing Chicken Hawk on WDVX and it was just nice to leave the pee station and hear anything that at least tried to be funny!

The morning show on Star was so boring..don't take my word for it go over and listen yourself.

Now 5th 12+ behind WNOX The Big Talker (aka WIVK's stepchild/bitch). But they still kick ass in 2nd place in many demos afternoon drive.

AMEN!!!! I enjoyed the country on 93.5 two years ago, and WKGN's adult urban format on 1340 did well. Both signals are now screwed, hardly showing up in a diary. Thank a Jose the next time you see one.

"[1] I already miss Abby Ham."

Watch Channel 8 in the morning for some great talent, and looks. Those guys may be number 3 but they have FUN on the air. Stacey is better looking than Abby anyway.

Regarding random media thoughts:

You think WATE people should get more personality--have more fun on the air? Consider this quote on mixing news and entertainment from Jim Lehrer (know who he is?)
"You want to be entertained? Go to the circus, please."

Agreed. 103.5 maybe does worse in the mornings because it is satellite instead of local. Stupid, LONG, boring chit chat on music stations in the mornings (or anytime) is a recipe for disaster. And the oldies station using a satellite network--just what we need--more narrow-minded programming using a small core of music instead of the huge variety that's available. Yep. Smart stuff there. And now someone's started Christmas music this week--I'll be puking on Santa by the week before Christmas if I listen to six weeks of this stuff. Anyone who plays Christmas music the first week of November should be horsewhipped. WIVK didn't win Station of the Year this year. The cash cow's udders must be dry right now. But the News-Sentinel is still great--8 out of 10 birds like it but hope they start using a round format so it fits in the cage better.

Hey guy, if you are referring to CMA Station of the Year, the Counrty Music Association has a rule that if you win one year, you can't win the next. Which is why we typically win every other year.

Our share might be down slightly, but our cume is up in key demos.

Channel 10 used to be real good in airing local news in a technical sort of way. They never made mistakes. What happened? They must be using the Arby's monkeys to run their control board, especially at 6pm and 11pm. No, wait, nevermind. The Arby's monkeys have coordination.

WHich says folks come over and get the time and then they go back to the station they really like.

cume is a joke from hell and is often used by stations that can t get folks to stay with them.

IVK is down...so is the rest of the market!

WATE doesn't need "personality."

It needs a news philosophy beyond "let's scare the shit out of everybody" with pointless stories covered by newbie reporters whose idea of compelling television is how many consultant cliche's they can pack into a 1:30.

Out of four hires, three are blonde women with barely a smattering of experience.

Can you tell them apart?

The NEWS Station?
Please.

Hey WBIR...we don't care if you are taking up for the illegal aliens that are sucking up our benefits here in east Tennessee. They are not welcome here. Your attempts to change public opinion on this will be futile except for some liberal pussies. In the end, it shows how much channel 10 has gone to hell. Legal aliens? Fine. Illegals? Ship 'em out. Bunch of culo chingaderas. Channel 10 u suck.

HAM IS GONE! Lets drop it ok? She was just another blond and never really did much reporting or quality anchor work.

She did have a nice going away party and everyone was invited but again who cares she is gone!

Farkus or Farkass as some call this guy is good at what he does but those teeth do scare my cat.

Beth on Live At Five his the hottest of the field at BIR and she also looks to be the best.

Robin can't dress and until she gets some bondo for that hole in her chin she will never move to a big market.

All the women on 8 are very hot. Liz Tedone is back and if she would take a few laps around the dinner table she could be beautiful again! She still does very good work and it is good to see her on TV once
again.

Best weather in town is either Craig or that country boy on WBIR. Worst is Mat (guy looks like Herman Munster) and Julia on BIR.

It is fun to bitch and I am glad this bog lets us!

Hillary Clinton gets elected President and is spending her first night in the White House.
She has waited so long..........

The ghost of George Washington appears, and Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?"
Washington says, "Never tell a lie."
"Ouch!" Says Hillary, "I don't know about that."

The next night, the ghost of Thomas Jefferson appears...
Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?"
Jefferson says, "Listen to the people."
"Ohhh! I really don't want to do that."

On the third night, the ghost of Abe Lincoln appears...
Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?"
Lincoln says, "Go to the theater."

Bad decision making on the part of WVLT on Thursday at noon. They tried to do a live report from Nashville and screwed it up. But the press conference was not of an eartb-shattering nature (it did matter to east Tennesseans, though) and should have been taped and edited for the 4pm news. Instead, it made channel 8 appear to be small town tv news. Bad choice.

Getting to look at Stacey made up for it, though. Yummy.

They were already there for the heart transplant story, so what the heck, why not try. If you want to be picky, you should've seen WBIR at 6p last night. They had a couple of clusters in the first five minutes.

Happens in bigger markets on bigger stations. Not as much though. Who the F cares anyway? Just don't watch WATE.
