IF YOU WANTA HAVE SOME FUN SUNDAY NIGHT

Anyone REALLY believe
the results of the big
trial will CLEAN UP
Knox County politics?
Upside is we won't have
to watch local news
kids try to slosh through
the boring facts or
lack there of and we can
get back to enjoying
Walter cook those
five ingredients
dishes!

We are so DRY! Maryville
and Alcoa are banning all sorts of
water usage to try and
cover what they can pump out
of Little River. It is SO
DRY that
my Lantana bush
is leaving thank you notes to the
dawgs after they hike their
legs in the morning!

Got this one early...feel
free to pass it on!

Ed is in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary.
His wife was very angry.
She told him "Tomorrow morning,
I expect to find a gift in the driveway
that goes from zero to 200
in less then 12 seconds...AND IT BETTER BE
THERE!!"
The next morning,
Ed got up early and left for work.
When his wife woke
up, she looked out the window
and sure enough there was a box
gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.
Confused, the wife put on her robe,
ran out to the driveway and brought
the box back in the house.
She opened it and found a brand new bathroom
scale.

Ed has been missing since Friday.
Please pray for him!

The new DEMOCRAT congress is doing a great
job NOT doing their job.
Focusing on Talk Radio rather than
the promises they made to their voters
they have bogged down in a silly fight
that could expand into the
question of custody of Britney’s babies
and if Barbra Walters really
talks like that or fakes it
to keep Rich Little in a job? Their
Latest insanity can be followed by clicking here!

Remember our LOVE
of the FCC? Me either
but anyway..this fine
government agency is
being accused of doing little
to nothing. SHOCK OF SHOCKS!
The AP is now saying " According to the
Government Accountability office
the agency (FCC) tips off some people with business
before the commission in advance
about what items are coming up for a vote,
usually before the public is notified."
Check it out!

ONE OF KNOXVILLE'S FAVORITE
FORMER ANCHOR/REPORTERS
CONTINUES HER FIGHT
AGAINST CANCER.

RUMOR...RUMOR...LIE...FACT...BUT
WITHOUT A DOUBT A RUMOR!

The MOLE at WATE told staff
a few weeks back that FOX
was going to drop 6 and start
doing their OWN news at 10!

Reasons were varied but one
was they didn't care for
WATE trying to get THEIR
viewers to go over to
WATE at 11!
OK, we didn't put much STOCK
in the whisper until ANOTHER
left handed report came in over
the cyber transom. Reports are
FOX (locally) is doing construction
on their digs and hiring a NEWS CREW
to do their own 10 news! True?
Who knows...stay tuned!

I sure will be glad when Dan Farkas on Channel 10 finally gets thru puberty. He reads sports like he's reading Lil Red Riding Hood to 5-year-olds. His voice cracks high as he tries to emphasize points of interest in the stories, but he would be better served just to get the facts correct, which often they are not. C'mon, Dan! Quit overdoing the sports and start sounding professional.

Local involvement=good local radio.

I'm sure the poster above meant they listen to NPR (not MPR).

I remember the days when we went to school and talked about what Dr. Al did on the radio the night before, and it was truly exciting when he brought the station's hearse to the school for an appearance that was won through some sort of contest.

Local radio can thrive if it's fun to listen to, but if I hear another jukebox music station I think I'm going to throw up.

Several Knoxville stations do pretty well on the local involvement thing...WIVK, Star, even Praise all make an effort to get involved in the community, and their programming reflects it. That's what it takes, children: local involvement and a commitment by management to make it work.

Walker,

Your comments about WIVK are about the most dumbass statements that you have made in a while. First of all, trends don't mean shit for the most part. It all has to do with who gets them sent in on time.

Yeah, I think WIVK will slip a little when the full summer book comes out, maybe (gasp...) even below a 20. It seemed like there was no big promotional bang for them over the summer.

And as far as the Halls country station goes, it sucks. They'll be around for a while though because Ron Meredith is a persistent jackass. I can't stand to listen to a station that plays a liner between every damn song. The old WLIL-FM 93.5 sounded much better (before it went taco-licious almost two years ago) and I enjoyed listening to them.

Typically, I enjoy your blog though...

AMEN to the last post...totally agree with his comments!!..and Farkas..ever since he's had his ear reductions,he seems way too happy!!.

What a shock to learn you are a Rush fan! That old drug filled blow hard is about to fall and it is his own doings.

Right wing talk radio is also finished, congress will take care of them the second He Who Would Be King is out of office and Hillary is in.

You and your blog are so hated by thinking people, why don't you just go away!

Talk radio is already dead! That show on 1400 about Frank talk or something like that proves it.

Some guy who can't finish a thought or a question without talking about himself and a woman who sounds so bored with all of it.

Rush is a joke
Bortz is a bore
and the fools on FOX have no credibility.

Why is everyone picking on the Fark
Man? He is a nice guy and knows his sports.

Go after that old woman who anchors on 6 or the fat fool that cooks on 8. Leave Fark Man alone!

I just checked this blog..what a ridiculous waste of time.

The Fark IS irritating. I don't want a nice guy who reads the sports like he is talking to pre-schoolers. Maybe the above poster has a crush (even a mancrush) on him.

And I like that Fat Fool on Channel 8 at noon. He keeps people tuned in for the whole half hour and not bailing after the weather. The other two stations noon hours are very boring. And sucky.

No wonder Knoxville radio is so bad. There are so many stupid people running the statios it boggles the mind. They'll never learn, so they can kiss their assets goodbye.

Wednesday, October 3, 2007 12:52:00 PM EST"

I agree and here are the reasons.
I work for WATE and just because we are dropping FOX at ten is no reason to say they are mad and dropping us. We have a great news product at 11 and because we often rank higher than WBIR at that time we are tired of doing stories at 10 that they try to run out and cover before 11.

Also the link to Rush was a black eye to anyone who posts on Gene's blog at WATE of knoxviews.com
Both are great blogs and certainly do NOT need the hate speak that comes from this blog.

Unlike the author of this blog I have and still do work in media. It is so obvious this person has never been where I have been and is nothing more than a viewer. Until they have put in a few YEARS working for a real radio or television station they should stop trying to lie to professionals!

Anonymous said...

I am a professional broadcaster with over 30 years experience. There is a lot of lying on this blog, but it seems to come mostly from liberals.
If these tv and radio stations are operated so well, why are there so many problems with them? It's fun to sit back and read the tit for tat volleys fired here. One thing is constant from generation to generation. There's always an abundance of stupid people.

Anonymous said...

I don't know who that person was that said they work for WATE but I really do and I had no idea FOX was going to drop us!

I wonder when they are going to tell our staff? Does anyone know if there are going to be other cut backs? Come on please fill us in.

Watch what you let POST here or we may have you taken off also!

Anonymous said...

We all just need to get together and have some drinks...

I love don imus and he always was talking about country music so
i am sure he would be a great one to do mornings at IVK. When does he start?

QUOTE-"We got Imus off the are and we will also get Rush off the air. Watch what you let POST here or we may have you taken off also!"

Spoken like a true fascist. Although I will say that Imus took himself off the air. Had he not made that verbal slip, he would still be on the air and YOU wouldn't have made a difference at all. The comment about Rush? I suppose a Democratic-led Congress and a Democratic president could begin to take our freedoms away. One more reason for the Right to keep the fascists out of power.

IF all those Knoxville political types are out as of noon today, who is running the place?

To suggest BIR uses WATE's cast on Fox for story ideas at 11 is laughable.

WATE's product on Fox is nothing more than a rehash of
WATE's 6PM news, and a pimping of WATE's 11. Fox got tired of left-overs.

So, bye-bye WATE.

WATE's 11pm cast is just bad, period. That's why it's in third place. Unloading the Fox responsibilities might free up some resources to make the 11 better--but I'll believe it when I see it.

WATE's efforts at improvement remind me of the woman who gets botox for her wrinkles, but does nothing about her rotting teeth.
