ARE we done yet?

LOTS of notes (still coming in)
about the coverage of the killings
on Sunday.

As always we will post them unedited
and reply if needed.

After a week of daily stories
in both the paper and on all of the
local TV news casts it really is
time to let this settle out.

SO to kinda get back to
what staff loves best ...
talking about the OLD DAYS....
here is a real ego
deflater from about 1987.

These two over weight kids
had just gotten back together at
WMYU for the third and final
installment of the now legendary
CP and Walker show.

The control room was new and the
station was in an old JAKE BUTCHER
office building on Kingston Pike.

For some reason CP and Walker followed
Jake around, first when he closed his
campaign for Governor office in the Oliver building
their station (WRJZ) rented the floor in an
expansion move.

Then when they got back together
on WMYU the station was in another Butcher
haunt. Reportedly the contractors who gutted
the Kingston Pike building found stashes of
pills in the walls. Because it WAS a radio
station all the pills were immediately ingested
by staff before CP and Walker inked their
first contract. Still the legend lives on from the
Chippewa on down about the goodies in the
Butcher walls.

U102 was the first adult contemporary
station in the area and considering how bad the music
was all were shocked when CP and Walker won back the
mornings for the first time since the death of
WRJZ. After a few short years WEZK caught on, moved
over to the format and U102 was toast. Although the station
lacked the excitement of WRJZ it did make a mark by creating
BOOMSDAY and as long as the morning numbers were high
CP and Walker were left alone. Unlike the old WRJZ, it is
hard for even those who worked at 102 to
remember just who was on the air. Some of the
alumni are still in the area and a few
are still in the business but the names
like the station are kinda fading. COULD be
their names are still bright and the memory
is fading? Happens when you finally turn 40.

Lots of thoughts on the
coverage of the shootings last week.
Here are your notes and posts...

Anonymous said...

The story is over. WVLT has moved on and only returns when they have an exclusive that reveals new facts.

The paper loves it because it involves gays and the mayor. They also are pushing hard for the gay community to be accepted by other churches and the general citizenry of Knoxville.

The problem is the Sentinel is very transparent and it causes them to loose all of their credibility.

Time to close the book on this one until the trial.

Ed.....You are not alone in some of your thoughts.
As for the paper having an agenda, well it IS the paper.

Obviously, the guy had some serious problems, but making it a hate crime is just as insane. Of course our very liberal News Sentinel jumps on that bandwagon! We don't take the paper, it's not worth reading when it's only propaganda and brainwashing. As for the local news channels, sorry, but they all seem the same to us!

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 10:31:00 AM EST

Ed.....Lots of talk about this being or not
being a hate crime. At this point most
who classify crimes are saying it does not
meet the criteria.

The paper is all gay all the time they will never stop writing about this thing!

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 12:04:00 PM EST

Ed.....We know more than a few who
work there and they are anything but GAY!

Anonymous Anonymous said...

The Journal is so missed. The Sentinel is a shell of what the Journal use to be.

They did a good job writing what WNOX news talk was saying when the story broke.

Since then all of the TV stations have just killed the paper in coverage all they have left is to push their crazy ideas like this was a crime against gays?

Also they actually ran a story when some gay guy demanded the MAYOR to
take their side? What side did they have, do they go to church, were they shot?

This is stuff the paper eats up and it shows they are just sinking in debt and will to any level to make a dollar.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 12:28:00 PM EST

Ed....As for debt all newspapers are
now sucking wind. Around the country
even the big guys are firing people and
trying to figure out a way to maintain
that astronomical profit margin of the past.
In the news world death always sells and now that
papers are run by the advertising department
selling is the big goal.

I read the paper on line and never buy it. It takes me about a minute and then I go over to Drudge for the facts.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 12:37:00 PM EST

Ed.....Staff here at MR are all giant
Drudge fans! That little dude figured out
a way to make a pile of money by just
researching what others reported and
linking to them. Smart as can be and
much admired by those who try to do very
little real work and make buckets of cash.

Why do you always single out WATE? I work for that station and we were the first on the air with the story and our phones were flooded with calls about how well we did.

We admit we are a news station and we have proven that East Tennessee wants real news and not the fluff WBIR hands out.

Also we are number one at 5, check your ratings!

Ed.....Who singles out WATE?? STAFF?? NOOOOOO!
As for the numbers we got tired of looking at them
and would have to call someone to find out
if you are really number one in ANY news time slot.
As for your coverage we are sure it was
award winning.

Ed......SEE we said this thing was getting OLD!
we did read the story about the guitar case and
the part that the paper didn't really talk
much about was the Shooters KIN tried to sell
the MARTIN back to the store the day after the
crime! Boy that is something. Course I guess
the money might be needed to hire a legal eagle but
it really did have an odd ring to it.

Lori Tucker has done and is still doing the best of any of the TV anchors in covering this story.

Tonight she talked about all the churches scheduling remembrance services and it runs all the way into September.

Mrs Tucker calms all of this down and you can tell her reports are not only well done but she feels for the church and those who died.

We are lucky to have her here all these years and especially lucky when something this bad happens to have her tell us about it in such a calm manner.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 10:18:00 PM EST

ED......Ms Tucker has always done a fine on air
job. Glad she calmed you down and gave you the
feeling she has compassion for those involved.

We said no more, and left it for the networks to wallow in, as I believe it should have been. This overzealous sensationalism of these kinds of acts in the press drives more crazies to do these things anyway for their "moment of fame" IMHO.

Ed.....That is a scary thought but you
might be right. Lets hope you are wrong!

Walker, on that poll that you did about shooting coverage, why didn't you include a box that said Neither? I didn't get my facts from either of those four places the day of the shooting. You also left out network TV news and local radio.

By the way, I watched Fox News the day of the shooting, and they were getting their updates from WATE and WIVK.

Ed.....Zeek Ridings does the polls and often
he is half to three quarters in the bag
when he puts them together. The HHH show
was saying earlier in the week that they
were the first on the scene and their
reporters were being used on FOX. Also
more than a few of us read the expensive
Sunday paper on line. Many saw the story
breaking as they read the letters to the editor.

I got all my facts from the net. Drudge had it and then I went to CNN where they had it.

Later I pulled up knoxnews.com and read their coverage which was not bad and their time line had them there very fast.

I never turned to radio because even WNOX newstalk is often out of the loop on Sundays. The last time I even thought of getting any news from radio was on 911 and that was because I wanted to know what was going on here.

WNOX newstalk did a good job that day and so did everyone else.

Ed.....The day of the shooting everyone who reported DID
do a good job. The question now is should they
let it rest. Most are answering that it is
time to move on.

How do you feel about WBIR going to an interactive 5 o'clock broadcast, moving Live At Five to 4pm and doing away with the show Style?

Ed....ZEEK is a wild man for STYLE and is
already calling area rehab centers in anticipation
of the binge he is planning when Moria and Mr. Glitter
say Cya! As for WBIR going interactive the answer is,
uh, what is interactive? NO really we missed that when Dr.

I saw WBIR announce tonight that they were going to carry the UU Sunday Church service live. They made a point to say it was at the request of the church.

To be invited into both one of the biggest crime stories to ever hit Knoxville AND to be invited to broadcast the first service from the scene of the crime is a big testament to WBIR.

It says the church trusts them and it says it trusts their journalistic
style and attitude.

Trust like that is earned.

No mention if the news paper was invited to photograph the service, but I bet they were not.

Thursday, July 31, 2008 9:35:00 PM EST

Ed......OK even though most agree
the story is about over... show of hands right now
of those who will NOT be watching that
service on WBIR come Sunday? The big key
was WBIR said the church INVITED them to
air the service. As a news organization they
would be nuts not to do it and because they
are the Str8 From The Heart station they are
expected to do it.
Staff here is about all old line Baptists
and their consensus is they want to see
a church that puts on a Broadway Play for their
Sunday morning service.

SHOOTING COVERAGE

Sad, upset, angry,
scared, and now tired
all describes how East
Tennessee feels concerning
the killings at the Unitarian
Church on Sunday.

Today the question is
when is the line of
dignity and class crossed
in reporting this horror and
are all members of the local
media staying
too long at the well?

With the exception of one, two of
the three (OK Fox is also in there)
local TV news departments
are still featuring the story on their
web pages and in their news casts.

wbir.com

"Church shooting victims were co-authors and close friends"

wate.com

"Man who videotaped Unitarian musical describes shooting"

If you had to rank the
"continuous" coverage
on the story the local
paper would be first and
WATE would be second.

Granted WATE has tried to build an
image as being the go to station
when "hard" news breaks and so far
it has taken them from second in the market to
third.

Still this kind of
reporting is what they do so you have to give
them a half pass, but the local paper
is nothing like Channel 6.

They have turned into a political platform touting
the left (check out their featured AP
story today on the famed apology)...
"House offers apology for slavery"

By JIM ABRAMS, Associated Press
Wednesday, July 30, 2008

"The resolution, passed by voice vote,
was the work of Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen,
the only white lawmaker to represent
a majority black district.
Cohen faces a formidable
black challenger in a primary face-off next week."

Although the shooting still made above the
fold this kind of story (the apology) featuring
a Democrat is really what they do. SO WHY
have they used their ink to remind victims families, church members
and the rest of the area about the shooting every
morning when they open the paper?

These types of questions, along the fact that
the local TV stations (6 and 10)
are just now LEAVING the scene of the
killings need answers.

What do YOU think?

Post in the comment section
and we will talk about it.

Again the MR thinks the story is
over for the moment. When the
shooter is convicted bring it back
but until then how about showing
some class and some compassion
for your community and move on.

I bet WBIR is going under, i

I hate to see it because
WBIR used to be THE station.

OK, this obviously is a copy and paste, but read it. It's brilliant!

He ventured forth to bring light to the world. The anointed one's pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a miracle in action - and a blessing to all his faithful followers.

And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organization with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?”

In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working Class Whites.

And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world.

He travelled fleet of foot and light of camel, with a small retinue that consisted only of his loyal disciples from the tribe of the Media. He ventured first to the land of the Hindu Kush, where the Taliban had harbored the viper of al-Qaeda in their bosom, raining terror on all the world.

And the Child spake and the tribes of NATO immediately loosened the Caveats that had previously bound them. And in the great battle that ensued the forces of the light were triumphant. For as long as the Child stood with his arms raised aloft, the enemy suffered great blows and the threat of terror was no more.

From there he went forth to Mesopotamia where he was received by the great ruler al-Maliki, and al-Maliki spake unto him and blessed his Sixteen Month Troop Withdrawal Plan even as the imperial warrior Petraeus tried to destroy it.

And lo, in Mesopotamia, a miracle occurred. Even though the Great Surge of Armor that the evil Bush had ordered had been a terrible mistake, a waste of vital military resources and doomed to end in disaster, the Child's very presence suddenly brought forth a great victory for the forces of the light.

And the Persians, who saw all this and were greatly fearful, longed to speak with the Child and saw that the Child was the bringer of peace. At the mention of his name they quickly laid aside their intrigues and beat their uranium swords into civil nuclear energy ploughshares.

From there the Child went up to the city of Jerusalem, and entered through the gate seated on an ---. The crowds of network anchors who had followed him from afar cheered “Hosanna” and waved great palm fronds and strewed them at his feet.

In Jerusalem and in surrounding Palestine, the Child spake to the Hebrews and the Arabs, as the Scripture had foretold. And in an instant, the lion lay down with the lamb, and the Israelites and Ishmaelites ended their long enmity and lived for ever after in peace.

As word spread throughout the land about the Child's wondrous works, peoples from all over flocked to hear him; Hittites and Abbasids; Obamacons and McCainiacs; Cameroonians and Blairites.

And they told of strange and wondrous things that greeted the news of the Child's journey. Around the world, global temperatures began to decline, and the ocean levels fell and the great warming was over.

The Great Prophet Algore of Nobel and Oscar, who many had believed was the anointed one, smiled and told his followers that the Child was the one generations had been waiting for.

And there were other wonderful signs. In the city of the Street at the Wall, spreads on interbank interest rates dropped like manna from Heaven and rates on credit default swaps fell to the ground as dead birds from the almond tree, and the people who had lived in foreclosure were able to borrow again.

Black gold gushed from the ground at prices well below $140 per barrel. In hospitals across the land the sick were cured even though they were uninsured. And all because the Child had pronounced it.

And this is the testimony of one who speaks the truth and bears witness to the truth so that you might believe. And he knows it is the truth for he saw it all on CNN and the BBC and in the pages of The New York Times.

Then the Child ventured forth from Israel and Palestine and stepped onto the shores of the Old Continent. In the land of Queen Angela of Merkel, vast multitudes gathered to hear his voice, and he preached to them at length.

But when he had finished speaking his disciples told him the crowd was hungry, for they had had nothing to eat all the hours they had waited for him.

And so the Child told his disciples to fetch some food but all they had was five loaves and a couple of frankfurters. So he took the bread and the frankfurters and blessed them and told his disciples to feed the multitudes. And when all had eaten their fill, the scraps filled twelve baskets.

Thence he travelled west to Mount Sarkozy. Even the beauteous Princess Carla of the tribe of the Bruni was struck by awe and she was great in love with the Child, but he was tempted not.

On the Seventh Day he walked across the Channel of the Angles to the ancient land of the hooligans. There he was welcomed with open arms by the once great prophet Blair and his successor, Gordon the Leper, and his successor, David the Golden One.

And suddenly, with the men appeared the archangel Gabriel and the whole host of the heavenly choir, ranks of cherubim and seraphim, all praising God and singing: “Yes, We Can.”

WBIR TO COPY WVLT?

A local paper is saying that
WBIR, BASTION FOR EAST TENNESSEE LOCAL
TV NEWS, is now going to emulate cross
town rival WVLT! KINDA?

Reportedly the canning of the
wildly popular STYLE at 4 was
due to WVLT winning the time
slot with their early news. Or
at least that is what the local paper says?

Granted Channel 8 has grown at such a rate
WATE is nothing more now than a dream that was, but
is their growth enough to cause
WBIR to toss out their live WOMEN
oriented programming at 4? The
answer is YOU BET YOUR DONKEY IT IS!

So what becomes of the 4 PM slot on
WBIR? The local paper says they
are going to move Live At Five
to 4? PLEASE that doesn't even RHYME!
The bigger question is how many of
you unwashed viewers are even HOME at 4, 5 or
even 6 to see the TV Anchors read you the
paper?

Some national programming geniuses and
readers of focus group tripe think
there is actually a bigger audience in the
early afternoon than later for local news?
TRUTH is a 7 cast..you know like WVLT is doing
NOW serves those with JOBS much better than
anything earlier. Those with JOBS often
can buy that car the guy screams about after
the weather and just before the sports. If you look
at last years advertising dollars over on the print side
you find it is much higher than today. Wanta bet
TV is also down? SO with a BUYING audience getting home
later can you still charge over a grand for a
spot on TV LOCAL NEWS at 4 or 6 and justify it to your client?
Good LUCK!

As for Live at FOUR we need to find it a new name.
Come on you guys are the brain trust, lets do it!
Live At Five moves to 4 so what do you want to call it?
As always your thoughts and ideas are coveted just post
away.

box! Pulling from his file of DO THIS TO BE
ELECTED he showed up at the Western Wall
in the Old City of Jerusalem wearing
a yamaka

(a thin, usually slightly-rounded
cloth cap worn by observant Jews)

yesterday.

THE TODAY SHOW had a short clip of the guy
and in the background (the first time they played
it the second time it was taken OUT) you could hear
yelling.

Looks like the former Rev. Wright follower
did not go over very well in this holy place.
When people started to actually yell at
the man who would be President his quote was

"It was rowdier than the last time I was there, you know?"
Obama told reporters on the plane.
"I mean, people were sort of, like,
holerin'. You know I was expecting more reverence."

When asked if he thought they were yelling because he had
the yamaka on he said they didn't say a word
when he wore it on his last visit, handing out this
happier picture of him visiting in the past.

OH AND ONE MORE OUTRAGE
BY THE OBAMA TRIBE!

IT IS TRUE

THREE weeks ago the rumor about WBIR
dumping STYLE and letting the former MS
TENNESSEE spend more time with the family
was all over the streets.

Reports are Moria is not mad and
has taken up the Chinese art of
hedge styling. She left a beautiful
example of her work next to the station

ZEEK RIDINGS had it in the to do
list but to tell the truth he is
much more of a WATE man so he
didn't get it in print.

Also the rumor about LIVE AT FIVE
being thrown under the same bus
is not true. NOW the plan (according
to the BIR MOLE) is to just move LIVE
up to 4 so those in the Nursing Homes
can see it before dinner!

Management at the MEDIA REPORT
denies all rumors about a
staff reduction and even encourages
those who are either to be fired or just
canned to apply. Modine in
HR does require a face to face
but it won't take long and IF you
bring a good slice of gossip
with you then you can be assure of
employment.

According to the big three TV
networks Obama has ended the war,
cured cancer, turned water into
Boons Farm and genitally
birthed a large group of
cats that eat plastic and
piss high test gasoline. For more
on his accomplishments tune to any
network news cast or NBC owned cable
outlet.

WE NAILED IT

ZEEK RIDINGS AND HIS
CRACK TEAM OF REPORTERS
WERE RIGHT....MS TUCKER
IS ON THE VOICE ONCE A WEEK!

Ms Tucker will be on the air
on Mondays and Mr Frank Cagle will
return to the chair Tuesday. Both
join the King Of The Conservatives
LLOYD
and his faithful political companion
Kelvin!
to sail the only conservative
radio talk show in Knoxville
through the storms of lies
perpetuated by the far left local
print and electronic media outlets.

BLOG STAR ZEEK RIDINGS
WAS REGALED WITH A GIANT STAFF PARTY
FOR HIS FINE WORK ON THE STORY.
Management decided that, due to liability issues,
we could have alcohol,
but only one (1) drink per person.
Being the great company man
that he is ZEEK personally ordered
the party cups.

Because of the work
of ZEEK RIDINGS the story was
not only BROKEN on The
Media Report but vindicated
when several lesser read blogs
tried to challenge its validity.
ZEEK was threatened with JAIL TIME
and hours of DON'T TAZE ME BRO interrogation
but he never broke, fact to this very day he
will NOT give up his super source
inside THE VOICE. The only
request he made that might indicate who
is leaking all of the highly sensitive
info about the show was for accounting to
buy a new ball hat for the Executive
Producer of the show, Mr Edward Beacon
AND a gun rack for Mr Beacon's limo
considering the times it has been high jacked
for bank jobs! Management agreed and
even installed the rack at our get away
lodge in New Port!
Due to his hard work the
topper of the party was a presentation
of a new chair for ZEEK to continue his
work on.

RETRACTION OR NOT

Staff is still cowering in the
staff lounge after the story about
Knoxville's longest running female
anchor
doing the infamous VOICE
radio show.

All weekend Assistant Tabloid
Publisher and Editor, the award
winning ZEEK RIDINGS was on the
phone trying to get a conformation
on the breaking story. After twenty
hours of continuous calling followed
by nine more of calling and then giggling and hanging up
when he got someone, Mr Ridings still
has not come up with a definitive answer.
Although he openly admits he has been sitting
down on the job
he also says he will continue his
investigation until he gets a yes or no.

The young man who would be king is
in the sandbox trying to solve several wars,
shooting basketball and begging to speak in Germany
at the East side of the Berlin wall. When he was told
no he announced he would move the speech to
Golgotha hill. He was last seen walking across the Rhine

next to a boat of sleeping men right into the heart of
a major storm.

The OLD MAN BAND
had fun Saturday and will
be back for two concerts on August.
If you have yet to see these
elder statesmen of song you really need
to come out! Full details and
photos from Saturdays party are
on their blog.

THE VOICE or VOICES?

A few weeks ago the
tabloid bureau of the
MR was told WATE Anchor
Lori Tucker would be joining
the cast of The Voice.
When they were ask in the 4 o clock
if they had confirmation on the
rumor they all muttered, started
lighting Winstons and looking out the window.

Tabloid Bureau Chief, ZEEK RIDINGS
finally suggested we go with the
story and if it turns out to not be true
lie out of it next week. After a
round of applause and screams
of "Heck BLOGS CAN SAY ANYTHING"
the executive decision to run the story
was made.

The now month old stale facts
are Ms Tucker would join the show as
co host on Mondays only. Naturally she will keep
her day job even though rumor has it
the contract's financial package
mentioned several prized antique
fishing lures and old but still
good BoJangles gift certificates.

More on this cracking story as
it develops.

In 1978 WRJZ (WHO'S GOTCHA NOW) radio
was managed by Ron Hamilton who in just a
few short weeks in the corner office disproved
the old adage "IT CAN'T GET ANY WORSE!"
Hamilton who was affectionately called
"Snake" by the staff was also a member of the
famed WRJZ basketball team. In this
prized photo he can be seen standing flat
footed on the far tight of the picture
with his fist clinched getting read to sucker
punch number 34 in the kidneys. The game was
between WRJZ and Maryville's WGAP, played in
the old armory on Hall Road, Alcoa. Because
it was a military facility the wood floor was
polished to the point where when a player fell
he often slid out the door, down the bank and
into the raging waters of Pistol Creek.

WRJZ both won the game and made bail for
SNAKE after he was caught in the WGAP locker room
with a fist full of wallets and nine TIMEX watches
on his arm.

So sad to hear about Tony Snow.
He did a wonderful job working
for both presidents and could make the press laugh.

A great journalist with a good true
heart is a very hard find. He will be missed!

Ed....Did anyone notice how NBC just gave
his death a short mention? Odd considering how
they spent weeks putting Tim in the ground? Sure
Timmy was one of theirs but Tony Snow so out
shadowed their man. Snow was the FIRST
hired on the FOX network, oh and he also had
worked for TWO Presidents. Still when NBC
managed to say something about his passing
they did it on 60 Minutes and LINKED Timmy to
the obituary.

Here is an obit that many of you may have missed:

'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't
always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in
charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unrulychildren.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an
abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own
home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, I'm A Victim & I'm gonna sue your a_ _ .

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Since he is no longer here to participate in our government, schools and churches, may God have mercy on us all.

ATTENTION WBIR FOLKS! ATTENTION WBIR FOLKS!

YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR FILL-IN WEATHER GIRL TO STOP SAYING ON THE AIR DURING THE DAMN 11PM NEWS THAT "SOMEBODY CALLED AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE WEATHER." SHE ALSO SAID THIS WHEN SHE FILLED IN FOR WITCHER LAST MONTH DURING YOUR 5 - 7AM NEWSCAST.

NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR ON-AIR MISTAKES, AND NEVER EVER EVER EVER CALL OUT A VIEWER OR LISTENER ON THE AIR. THAT'S A FUNDAMENTAL RULE OF THIS BUSINESS!!!!!!

PATHETIC!!!!!! AND WHEN SHE FILLS IN ON MORNINGS AGAIN, ALSO TELL HER TO QUIT FLIRTING WITH RUSSEL BIVEN, AND TELL HER NOT TO CALL ED RUPP "EDDIE POOH." THIS IS WBIR TELEVISION, NOT SOME STATION IN THE MIDDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA.

I FEEL EMBARRASSED FOR 10 AND I DON'T EVEN WORK THERE!!!!!

Ed.....She called The RUPPER WHAT? Hey
she should take a lesson for the woman she is filling
in for about flirting! It often has consequences.

Hey, this weather WOMAN is better than the giggler who was aways a minute away from birth.

If this one gets her hair cut and can stop being scared she could get the
laughing woman's job!

Wonder why wbir can't hire a good looking weather WOMAN? WATE has all the real ugly men in town doing weather and WBIR cornered the women market.

got one look at ZEEK they demanded we bring him on board!

SLOW MEDIA WEEK

SATURDAY..
SAD NEWS

TONY SNOW passed today.

What a nothing week in local media.
As far as we can tell few were fired,
none hired and the over nights were about the
same as always.

Staff came into the 4 O clock meeting
late, claiming they had been unjustly
detained by the local authorities
with blood shot eyes and the smell of
stale ale on their unwashed bodies.

Finally new comer Zeek Ridings
suggested we talk about old radio
and suggested all of our readers
check out the radio history blog.

Larry the I.T. guy made
that "I HATE THE IDEA" face
while the rest of the staff
agreed!

SO
for your
weekend
reading pleasure
we direct you to
the above mentioned blog,
featuring Ed Rupp and others.

Several staffers worked with
Ed at WGAP in Maryville and found him
to be a very nice young man who had
the uncanny ability to lure big name
country stars on his 250 watt show.
Later we learned he lied to them by
saying WGAP was secretly owned by
Bobby Denton who used the station to
launder all the money he won playing golf.

Today Edd is working on both WBIR and the
FROG and is a part time set decorator
for FOX news. He is not the father of Beth
Haynes and his hair is real but the mustache
is reportedly fake.
For more on the RUPPER check out the "other"
blog.

Letters fluttered in from C.S. last week
on the question of local or XM radio.
Here they are!

F*** satellite radio.

Ed...I think you would have to be
an astronaut to do something like that OR be
endowed with a weapon of biblical porportions?

XM is a pile of horse shit. Your staff got the wrong system! Howard Stern is on mine and I can search for any song I like..try that on OLD radio!

CP and Walker should come back on as you say bird, they are better than anything on there now, ok Howard is better but he has been around much longer.

I love the picture of the MR
staff, the girl with the cig
in the back looks like someone I woke up with on Clinch Ave the morning after the Florida game. We were in her mother's bed and her mother was over at Gibbs hall spending the night!

Good old days!

Ed...For half of what Howard makes
CP and Walker would come on "the bird" and
talk dirty for hours.
Days on Clinch and White are but a fog
in the right quadrant but often
the rash comes back and the itching starts
up as a reminder!

I've had SIRIUS for over two years now (and I work in terrestrial radio!) and LOVE IT. I got it mainly for Howard Stern but would keep it if he left tomorrow.

And I just love watching the NAB pissing away all that lobbying money and running scared. They're lying in the shitty bed they made for themselves.
Tuesday, July 8, 2008 11:51:00 AM EST

Ed....Think about it Frank if SIRIUS and XM get together (it will happen) and
grow much more NAB will be out of business!
Bless their hearts~

The Tripple H show is the reason I still have local radio. This is a man who knows how to get a point across without being loud or mad. He also is a good Christian and loves his family.

We need more talk shows like his, I can listen with my entire family and often do as I make them breakfast daily.

Ed...He sure does have people
tuning in and he does say he is
a believer. Wonder if there was
another local morning talk show if
he would have the same numbers?

Did the old slave holders use to cut the nuts off their slaves to make sure they didn't run away? Or was it just to make them work harder?

There was a book about old slave holders and nut cutting but I can't remember the title.

I did read it in middle school though and wrote a report on it. Got a B-

KERBOOM is over

Staff is having a heck of a time
getting the MR out. All have
blacken thumbs (they never read
the LIGHT AND GET AWAY FAST) instructions
and claim even if they tried
the dark night combined with the
dark Becks often impairs their
judgment and reading abilities.

WBIR did a nice job with the
firework show again this year
and Schwalll reminded us he
is more than just a pretty face.

The radio world is waking up this
morning to finally seeing the two
major satellite radio networks coming
together.

"Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.'s acquisition of rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. may be cleared by federal regulators this month, and it can't happen fast enough for XM.
"

The entire MR staff has recently installed
XM in their vehicles and the
MR mobile half ton truck.

With the exception of a few local
talk shows the need for music is
more than met by the new additions.
If this consolidation does happen
the growth of satellite radio could
explode.

Are you on the bird in your car?
Do you like it?
When the two combine would you
try it out?

Drop us a note and let us know
your thoughts.

More when we get it!

NEW EMAIL

KIDS...
if you have been sending e mail to wjonair1@aol.com
and it is bouncing then stop it! LOL... AOL is toast
and the new e mail address is

denveranmollysdad@gmail.com

I KNOW kinda long but until the
learning curve is lowered
or kinda straighten out,
it will be the address.

HERE is one
that is shorter
denver60@aol.com
Naturally most if not all of your
e mail addresses were
swallowed by the AOL
black hole of dead, so
if any and all of you would
please drop a note to the above
then staff can continue to
annoy you with the famed MR!

Again we are now
denveranmollysdad@gmail.com

rather than wjonair1@aol.com

so drop us a note and we will
get your name back in the
big old file!

THANKS!

Oh the idea for the
move to dump AOL came
from our newest brain
trust, Zeek Ridings,
pictured here deep in thought.
